Over the years, Spider-Man did rejoin with the symbiote a few times, usually in the name of heroism. ItвЂ™s the ultimate story of how we can lose ourselves to power, even if a loved one beat you over the head with lessons about responsibility. Before it turned Eddie Brock into a box office giant, the symbiote made for a badass variant look for Spider-Man that still holds up to this day. His stretch of time in the late-80s wearing his living, black costume is a staple of his history.

It might seem a little early in the series to be making character-changing decisions, but adding the Symbiote Suit only serves to make MarvelвЂ™s Spider-Man 2 the sequel we all want it to be.If being Venom was like being in the Beatles, then Peter Parker would be Pete Best. The only other option is to once again focus on Miles Morales, but that wouldnвЂ™t really feel like a true Spider-Man sequel. It can also bring in Venom, arguably the most exciting villain yet to appear in the series.

InsomniacвЂ™s Peter Parker is one that mostly has his life in check following the first gameвЂ™s conclusion, so throwing in the Symbiote is sure to mess things up and reduce him back to that olвЂ™ Parker luck. The gameplay advantages seem pretty obvious then, but there are also numerous narrative opportunities that the Symbiote Suit could introduce. You could even still have that sort of thing by making the Symbiote something you can switch between. The first game wasnвЂ™t short on abilities, but it was pretty reliant on using the environment and gadgets. Peter could even get his own range of combat abilities through the Symbiote, as weвЂ™ve seen in games like Shattered Dimensions and Web of Shadows. Some of the mechanics would need changing around to accommodate this, but thatвЂ™s the sort of thing you want to see from a sequel anyway.

The suit having these effects on him would be more than enough story justification for why Spider-Man has gotten more powerful and unlocked new abilities across the sequels, and the introduction of a second swinging arm could do for the sequel what the new range of tricks did for Miles Morales. W ith the Symbiote Suit, Peter Parker becomes stronger, faster, and is usually seen swinging with two webs to show how the suit has given him newfound confidence (or just to look cool). They knew what they were hinting at with this suit. If that creature truly is a symbiote, youвЂ™ve got your way of Peter getting it right there. WeвЂ™ve also already seen a symbiote-esque creature keeping Harry Osborne alive in both gamesвЂ™ end credits, so itвЂ™s likely to be a big part of the story at some point. ItвЂ™s one of the only suits that isnвЂ™t in the game, which is definitely deliberate with all the winks to it. ItвЂ™s not like Insomniac Games has been coy about the suitвЂ™s existence either. The only canonical thing that seems to achieve that is the Symbiote Suit. HeвЂ™s had tons of suits, but weвЂ™ve already seen them and they donвЂ™t really do a lot to change his abilities. Off the top of my head, there arenвЂ™t really that many more changes that could be made to Peter Parker. As useful as they eventually become in the post-game, PeterвЂ™s gadgets are pretty boring and are immediately undermined by MilesвЂ™ venom powers and camouflage.

One idea is to upgrade his array of gadgets, but this seems like a pretty boring approach - he already has more than Miles and still falls short. That was the past though, and with the character of Miles being so much more interesting to play as, the sequel needs to make some sort of change to PeterвЂ™s arsenal. Even the Raimi films knew to hold off until the third entry. ItвЂ™s a hugely important moment for his character across every medium that it has appeared in, so introducing it in the second game would feel a little rushed - you need momentum to properly deliver the immense weight of a good guy giving in to his bad side. If heвЂ™s going to be the main playable character though, something needs to change and thereвЂ™s really only one logical solution - the next Spider-Man game needs to give him the Symbiote Suit.Д«efore Miles Morales launched, I actually would have preferred if MarvelвЂ™s Spider-Man held off on giving Peter the Symbiote Suit in the sequel. After all, he is the original Spider-Man, and he has a lot of stories left to tell. Peter Parker should still be the focus of the next game in the series.
